Fun Purse Idea

I stumbled across this little project last night and I thought it was something fun the everyone can help pitch in. With summer fast approaching, I know that my family is out having picnics as much as possible...even if it's on our back porch...and on just about every one of those outings, we have "juiceboxes" as our refresher drink (I also carry H2O with us to stay hydrated in our Texas heat). This little tutorial is not only fun for the kids to watch as you create something they used, but it will also show them how recycling can be fun and useful. For instructions on how to make this, click here.

Spring Flowers brings Bright Colors!

If I could change my girls room up monthly I would love too...but time and children won't allow it. Right now my girls bunk together and for the last 3 years they have had the same theme going...even with all our many moves. You would think I would just change a few things here and there but nope, not me. Here is my motivational theme for the girls for this summer. I found everything here . The inspiration for this came from the Girls Room Key West collection and the Island Surf collection. I plan to mimic the look myself...everything but the paintings because I can NOT paint worth a penny. There is no room for creativity in that department.

Crockpot Recipe

I really enjoy cooking but this last week has been so busy that I've had to pull out my trusty crockpot to help me out. I know some people think that crockpot cooking is limited to a few basic meals but that is so wrong. Tonight we are having roast and to be honest...I prefer the taste and tenderness that the slow cooker offers. So for those of you who want to try out my version of this recipe...here it is.
Ingredients:
Any cut of roast that you prefer
Potatoes, celery, onion and carrots-cut up
1 can of cream of celery or mushroom
1 pkg Lipton onion soup
1/2 cup water
Cook on low heat for 10-12 hours. Enjoy! YUMMY!

Working...Working...Working

I have been super busy this past week...hence the lack of posting. This past week has been filled with restocking the stores that showcase my items, finishing up all my orders and getting prepared for Kindergarten graduation. That is all done in what little "extra" time I have left at the end of the day. LOL! With only 3 orders left to complete...I will start working on all the new items for my upcoming festival. I've tapered down on all my custom order so that I can relax and let the creative side of my brain work because I was having the hardest time deciding something unique, yet affordable, to make and what not to make. But...I've gotten ALOT of wonderful feedback from some awesome people. Here is an adorable twirl skirt that was recreated for a customer in a different color pink. As always, I love custom orders so if you ever need anything, just let me know! XOXO

Rain, Rain...please stop

We have been needing rain here since it's been so dry. We have been in a burn ban for quite some time now and the much needed rain was a welcoming suprise...at first. Today, it has been raining for almost 10 hours straight and the water level keeps rising. Normally this wouldn't bother me much but since we live near the river, I do have to say that I am a bit stressed. I've tried to relax by sewing or cleaning or reading but nothing is working...not until the rain slows down...so I thought. I do take comfort in something that my oldest said while driving home this afternoon. "The water is getting higher but I"m not afraid because God has promised to never to send a flood like he did to Noah and the rainbow promises that". What a wonderful and comforting statement to hear from a 6 year old. That little statement is so true and the promises that God has given to us are true. Ok...remember that statement that I said earlier about not being able to relax and being stressed out until the rain stops? Well, after writing this blog, I know that I should be enjoying the rain and all the beautiful things that come from the it. The green leaves on the trees, the blooms on the flowers, the innocence of children jumping in puddles. Maybe it will be a productive day today as I enjoy and sit in awe of everything that Christ has created and done for us.

Do I really need more fabric?

Yes..."I" think I do. I haven't ordered much of anything in a while and I need to head over and grab some Heather Bailey fabric! I just LOVE her fabric designs. I'm not sure what I plan on doing with all my fabrics but I just know that I need some more. I told myself last week that I was going to use up all my older fabrics before I get some new ones but I just can't resist the temptation!

In the kitchen...not tonight

I have been in such a cooking funk this whole week and that is so not me. I guess I'm just not motivated to cook for some reason. I feel bad but my 3 little piggies loved what we had for dinner! Can you guess? It's a staple for all those "what to cook for dinner" or "I just don't feel like cooking tonight" nights. I have to admit that it's not anywhere close to my favorite place to eat, but for some reason children just love it.

I think that for next week, I am going to make myself cook some "real" food that actually has some substance and nutrition to it yet is still appealing to my kiddies!

I have to admit that I am addicted to America Idol. This is the first season that I have watched it and I feel like I missed out on so much...LOL! Maybe it was good that I missed it because now, every Tuesday and Wednesday night, I am glued to the t.v. Atleast it comes on after the kids are in bed!

Taking that First Blog Step

Ok...I've been thinking about doing a blog and I finially decided to jump in and give it a try! I figured that it would be an awesome way to promote my website www.ohsewgirlie.com and allow me to write down my thoughts. I will be posting here with updates and sneek peaks every now and then to show things that I have been working on. Keep an eye out because I am going to offer special discounts and contests just for my blog readers.
